Recipe: Chilli Garlic Coconut Red Chutney

Deepa Suhas Awchat, CEO, Goa Portuguesa & Diva Maharashtracha shares her recipe of Chilli Garlic Coconut Chutney, an accompaniment to all south Indian preparations



Ingredients

Dried red chilies                            4 large
Garlic, chopped                              20 cloves
Grated coconut                               2 cups
Roasted Chana Dal or Peanuts    1 tablespoons
Tamarind pulp                               2 tablespoons
Sugar                                                1 teaspoon   
Oil                                                     2 tablespoons          
Mustard seeds                                 ½ teaspoon
Salt to taste 

Method

1)     Grind all the ingredients, except mustard seeds and oil, with half a cup of water to a fine paste.
2)     Heat the oil in a pan; add the mustard seeds and when they begin to splutter, add to the coconut paste and mix well.

3)     Serve with Idlis or dosas.
