Egg Sandwich, Anil Pandey, Raasta, Gurgaon

A sandwich that requires almost nothing to prepare. Get some mayo and eggs, and you are on! Morever, the recipe comes from Delhi's most loved eatery, Raasta, suggested by Chef Anil Pandey.
Ingredients (all three can be bought from your neighbourhood shop. We suggest, just stock up the mayonnaise for good. Hell lot of things you can prepare with it!)
  • 4 Sliced bread (whole wheat or white)
  • 3 Soft boiled and shelled eggs (boiled for 6 min.)
  • 2 tbspn Garlic mayonnaise
  • To taste Salt.

Assembling
  • In a bowl mix boiled egg, mayonnaise and salt
  • Smear some egg mixture on a bread slice
  • Cover the bread with another bread slice.
  • Trim the edges (for those who don't like the crusts) and cut into quarter slices
  • Plate and enjoy with ketchup, chutney or whatever!

P.S. Just to increase the calorie (and taste), we would suggest adding some molten or shredded cheese between breads or on top!

P.P.S. Extremely sorry for the not-so-good-looking picture :-/

The Sassy Spoon, Nariman Point, Mumbai

Where Hauz Khas meets Nariman Point, with oodles of pink sassiness

Where to go- The Sassy Spoon, Express Towers, Nariman Point

Chefs- Irfan Pabaney and Rachel Goenka

How to get there- Just ask for Nariman Point. The tall white Express Towers are hard to miss. The Sassy Spoon is on the ground floor.

What we reviewed- Whoever has been to Hauz Khas in Delhi must definitely be intrigued by the ambiance of The Village, which attributes a rustic yet trendy charm to it. The Sassy Spoon, with its upturned lights, pink chairs and a dim-lit romantic allure definitely reminds you of all the quirks that state and define Hauz Khas, and bundles it up as a cozy, snug eatery.

The place flaunts pink in prominent yet not so disturbing ways. All thanks to the dimly lit setting, the restaurant is ideal to wind up after work or enjoy a private dinner with the family. It can be safely concluded that with high ceilings, flowing curtains and an earthy, warm ambiance, The Sassy Spoon is one of Bombay’s most beautiful eateries.

Note- They have separate lunch and dinner menus. Our review is based on the dinner menu.

Cost for 2- Rs 2000, excluding alcohol

What to order- Start with the Very Berry Khatta, moving on the vegetarian Cous Cous salad and Tenderloin Chicken. Their Lemon Buerre Spaghetti must strictly not be missed. Do try the Cajun Prawns and Grilled Manali Trout.

Who to go with- We saw a ladies’ reunion, a romantic date and a family of three, all enjoying some dinner and conversations, casually sitting next to each other. Needless to say, the fine dining place can be visited by all.

What’s for dessert- Prince Noir, Raspberry and Chocolate Mousse and Tiramisu Undone

What to do around- The place is next to a lot of major landmarks which define Bombay. Strolls along Marine Drive, introspecting at Nariman Point or catching a play at NCPA are all the options. Or if you really have a lot of money to dine at Trident, please give me a call!

Would we go back- Well, the interiors have been so beautifully curated, that we found it difficult to leave even after 2 hours. Since we couldn’t slouch back on their al fresco area, we would definitely go back for that!

The Irish House, Lower Parel, Andheri, BKC, Malad, Fort, Mumbai

If the Irish like it merry, The Irish House backs that well!

We all have a serious relationship with The Irish House now, one which clicked instantly and has probably culminated into a marital Friday night merriment. We recently took our vows with the place for the very first time.

Highlight! The Irish House has karaoke nights every Monday. Nothing could be better to beat the boring Monday blues than a bunch of friends singing in their best (or worst) baritone!

Want to eat- It’s a pub, so the focus is obviously on drinking. But even for teetotalers like me, the eating options are extensively varied. Not a lot of veggie ones though.

Where to go- Irish House, with branches all over Mumbai including Lower Parel, Fort, BKC, Andheri and Malad.

What to wear- Well, we saw men let loose from the chains of their formals to women who slyly slipped into their party dresses at the Phoenix mills WCs. Well, no one is here to judge whatever you wear!

Whom to go with- Definitely not family. I went with my sister though, so I guess siblings qualify. Take friends, or double date with another couple.

What to order- I won’t suggest what to drink, but if you are open to experimentation, their extremely friendly staff would love to surprise you! Order whatever you want during the happy hours and you can continue having it throughout the night. There are limited vegetarian options and definitely not very health conscious ones, so you can order anything ranging from onion rings to pasta or a pizza, to complement what you drink.

Cost for 2- Rs 1500 including alcohol (Right, right! Happy Hours zindabad!)

What to do around- Though you can shop, lounge around, chill or relax at Phoenix Mills and Palladium, we would suggest you just grab a chair or stool and do the same inside Irish House. Or if shopping is absolutely necessary, do so before going in. Pretty sure, you won’t be able to focus on price tags after getting out.

Would be go back- I am not a fan of loud music or a lot of crowd, so I would prefer going on a week night. But my sister, who loves madness, didn’t want to leave even after several hours. So well, one day or the other, we are definitely going back!
